Ingredient Spotlight - Apple Cider Vinegar

Ingredient Spotlight - Apple Cider Vinegar

Did you know you could use apple cider vinegar to treat body odor?

Body Odor And Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar does not have the best smell, as anyone who has ever smelled it knows. People have told me it smells like feet... Well, it definitely doesn't smell like feet, and although the smell is a bit strange at first, it doesn't take long for you to get used to it. The unique smell of ACV comes from acetic acid. Several organic acids found in ACV are responsible for killing bacteria. It neutralizes bacteria by passing through their cell membranes.

The Body's Natural Clorox

In a study conducted by Middlesex University London, different bacteria strains were cultured in petri dishes with apple cider vinegar at 37 degrees celsius for 24 hours.

In the tests, ACV decreased bacteria growth and eliminated bacteria types such as E. coli, C. albicans (which includes Corynebacteria, the bacteria responsible for body odor) and S. aureus.

When applied to the skin, apple cider vinegar eliminates odor-causing bacteria and creates an inhospitable environment for them to grow. One of the best parts is that unlike Clorox bleach, which is highly toxic, apple cider vinegar is 100% natural and safe for humans.

People suffering from excess body odor would be able to take advantage of apple cider vinegar's antibacterial and deodorizing properties.

Eliminates Body Odor

ACV's antibacterial properties prevent bacteria from growing on your skin and neutralize any odor-causing bacteria, keeping you smelling fresh. Apple cider vinegar can help you get rid of body odor in your shower routine if you're doing an armpit detox or are naturally smelly.

The solution: Use a natural antibacterial bar soap formulated with apple cider vinegar in the shower, such as the underarm bar, or gently wipe ACV onto a cotton pad and onto armpits.

Apple Cider Vinegar's Antibacterial Properties

Wash Your Underarms

It has been said a million times before, but it bears repeating - SWEAT + BACTERIA = BAD ODOR. You NEED to eliminate the bacteria that cause odor to keep smelliness at bay. Wearing deodorant alone will not suffice. That's when ACV comes into play. Bacteria are killed by ACV's ACETIC ACID which passes into the bacterial cell membranes and neutralizes it. That's why Apple Cider Vinegar is one of the ingredients in Playpits!
